Welcombe Village

Childrens Group

About Us
Welcombe Children's Group was formed in 2006 by a group of parents in order to set up events and activities for the children in the parish and to improve the facilities for them.

The committee are: Rosina Dorelli - Chairperson,
Emma Morrison - Secretary and
Alice Gare - Treasurer.

Since setting up the group we have held an annual Easter Party and Halloween Party. We have also held a number of craft days and fundraising events. We hope to increase and develop the events and activities we put on and would welcombe any ideas or suggestions. With the help of grants we have set up the Welcombe Children's Playground. We received £7,500 from the 'Devon Community Foundation', which paid for the low level obstacle course, fencing and picnic benches. We received £12,000 from the Lottery's 'Awards for All' Grant for the play unit with slide and £5,000 from the 'Devon Playing Fields Association' towards the safety surface.

Alice and David at the pottery organised for all the children in the village to make a handprint tile which is now displayed on the wall inside the playarea. The new hedge inside the playarea was kindly donated by a local resident and the children have planted bulbs around the borders.

Please come with your children and enjoy.

Under 5's in Welcombe
We have now started working with Bideford Bay Children's Centre to improve facilities for the under 5's in the village and have just received a £200 grant to buy and install a babychanging facility in the village hall. This will be installed shortly.
We have also arranged for Bideford Toy Library to come to the craft event on 8th April with a range of messy play in the play area and ride on toys and play tents which will be in the skittle alley for the toddlers to play on.

Welcombe Parent & Toddler Group 10am - 12. Cost £1.50 per family.
Due to the refurbishment of the village hall, toddler sessions will
only take place informally at people's houses until September. If you
would like to meet up with your toddlers, please contact Emma Morrison
on 331389.
Sessions will be back to normal in September.

Someone from Surestart comes with some toys and to help us run it. Please come along and join in. For more details contact one of the parent toddler group committee:-

Hot news: we’re ordering toddler tables and chairs with the funding we received to make snack time and play easier. We’ll also get a musical instrument set to use during song time.
