DEVON HISTORY BROUGHT BANG UP TO DATE WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY
The Devon Record Office has opened the doors of its new home at Great Moor House, Sowton in Exeter and history buffs are already enjoying the new facilities. The new office provides, for the first time ever, accommodation for all the records in Exeter on one site, with sufficient expansion space for the next twenty years. The building incorporates all the latest in record office design including 'passive environmental control' to preserve the sometimes-fragile documents. Opening hours in the spacious new searchroom are 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. The service remains free, following Devon County Council's decision to remove the admission charges which have been in place since the early 1980's.
